Hello I’m Matthew Tinson and I enjoy creative problem solving. I like to find each brief’s happy place; whether it’s bringing in a new perspective to an age-old conundrum, discovering a standout solution, or cracking a brief before a dangerous deadline - it’s what wakes me up.
As a recent graduate of AWARD School, Sydney, I managed to tackle 11 creative briefs in 15 weeks, coming up with ideas to grab attention for a diverse sector of brands, including electrical, public transport, service, clothing apparel, skincare and across traditional and online platforms such as print, TV, ambient, integrated, video and online.
Outside the hallowed halls, I’ve billed up some hours as a freelance designer, working successfully within the entertainment industry, designing everything from logos, band and event posters, business cards, print ads and CD covers.
Although my desired rhythm sways strongly towards the persuasive arms of advertising, it doesn’t hurt that I can mock up ideas with the acute eye of a trained designer. Having finished a Bachelor of Visual Communications/Graphic Design in Newcastle, NSW, I also managed to fit in some time as a DJ and pride myself on my superior skill for train spotting samples and vast musical knowledge.
I guess being raised by television and having a strict policy of reading magazines only had an effect on me; for good or evil my mum would debate. Here’s to hoping it will have an effect on you…
